Dr R. Raveendran, Professor of Pharmacology, JIPMER, Pondicherry, India. Prof. R. Raveendran graduated from Thanjavur Medical College (Madras University) in 1983 and did his MD (Pharmacology) in JIPMER (Madras University). He received his Diploma in Clinical Pharmacology from St. Bartholomew's Medical College (London University) in 1991 and is currently working as a professor of Pharmacology in JIPMER, Pondicherry, India. His interests include clinical trials, toxicology and computer assisted learning. He has published a number of research articles, CAL software and a book. His works on CAL were presented in the 'World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences' held in Tokyo, Rome and Montreal and won a best poster award in Rome in 2009. He was chief editor of the Indian Journal of Pharmacology for 6 years and currently he is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapeutics.

Dr C.R. Patil, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology, R.C. Patel Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Shirpur, Dist: Dhule, Maharashtra, India.Dr C.R. Patil has experience of 20 years in teaching experimental Pharmacology. His research interests include inflammation, pain and cancer pharmacology. He started the development of a computer assisted learning package - 'Xcology' in year 1992. This work has evolved as XcologyPro. The driving force for this project was his intention to make the pharmacological experiments more comprehensible and acceptable by learners. In collaboration with Dr. Raveendran and Pawankumar Suryavanshi, he has developed a software controlled mannequin of rat to demonstrate invasive recording of blood pressure. His CAL packages have been appreciated at World Congresses on Alternatives at Tokyo (2007), Rome (2009) and Montreal (2011) with ‘Young Scientist Award’ and ‘Best Poster Award’. He is a recipient of ‘Career Award for Young Teachers’ from AICTE, and research grant of more than 35 lakhs from Government of India. His research work has been published in more than 50 research articles with above 400 citations.

Dr Sandhya Avadhany, Professor of Physiology at St. John's Medical College and Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Rajiv Gandhi University Of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore, Karnataka, India.Dr Sandhya did her MD (Physiology) from Bangalore University in 1985. Since then she has been actively guiding and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in the subject of Physiology. During her 30+ years of continuous interaction with students she realized a definite need of a tool for explaining the concepts of physiology to students in lack of actual animals available for experiments. ExPhysiology, a brainchild of Dr Sandhya was designed and developed as an alternative to animal use, due to growing concern and stringent laws imposed by animal ethical bodies. ExPhysiology, a computer based software in form of CD was released by then Vice-chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, India in the year 2003. It has been acclaimed widely and being used currently by 110+ medical institutes both nationally & internationally.

Experimental Physiology

Dr Rashmi Babbar, Director-Professor, Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, India.Dr Rashmi did her post-graduation from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow, India in 1972 and later worked in KGMC, Lucknow & All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, India. She joined Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, India as faculty member in 1983 and became head of the department in 1998-2013. Her field of interest is neurophysiology and she has published many research papers in National and International Journals. She is on panel of many medical journals for reviewing the articles and Medical Council of India has nominated her as member of team to update undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in India.

Dr S.K. Bajaj, Director-Professor & Head of Department in Physiology at Dr BSA Medical College, Rohini, Delhi, India. Prior to this, Dr Bajaj was Professor at Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, India. He has experience of teaching in the field of Physiology for 20+ years. He has also worked at various prestigious institutes including Government Medical College, Chandigarh & Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi, India.

Mrs Sharmila Sanyal, Professor, All India Institute of Hygiene & Public Health, Kolkata, India. Mrs Sharmila Sanyal has done her post-graduation from Calcutta University. She was awarded Gold Medal in MSc. for her special paper on Nutrition. She has been teaching Physiology for last 30 years.

Dr Namrata Kahlon, worked as Associate Editor at Elsevier.She is an undergraduate from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, India. She has done her post-graduation and senior residency in Physiology from Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi, India.
